Ever since 1898, when John Knape purchased the assets of Grand Rapids (Mich.) Cycle Company and set up shop on Campau Street, the “business of motion” that began as the John Knape Machine Company has met design challenges with mechanical precision, creativity and imagination.

Today, Knape & Vogt Manufacturing Company is still headquartered in Grand Rapids. We operate two manufacturing/warehousing facilities in Grand Rapids, one in Chiayi, Taiwan, and one in Petaluma, California, with a supporting location in Chicago, Illinois. We are a global leader specializing in the design, manufacture and distribution of functional hardware, office and healthcare ergonomics and storage-related components for original equipment manufacturers, specialty distributors, hardware chains and major home centers.

We design and manufacture precision, Euro-style and utility drawer slides; wall-attached shelving for commercial, home and garage applications; kitchen, closet and bath storage; office ergonomics products and specialty hardware. We offer these products under several well-known brand names: KV®, HyLoft®, Closet Culture™, Real Solutions for Real Life®, John Sterling® and Shelf-Made®. KV Powered By Samet, an expanded product offering of Hinge Systems, Lifting Systems, Drawer Box Systems and Fittings, all exclusively available from KV in North America.
